The focus is on the analysis, explanation and design of IT systems to support innovation, collaboration and management systems. The main focus is on cyber-physical systems in the context of Industry 4.0. Building on the fundamentals of information and communication technology, current topics from the field of innovation technologies are discussed (e.g. simulation and modelling tools, virtual realities, data mining and rapid prototyping). Students will get an overview of different innovation technologies used in companies and will be able to evaluate their use for challenges such as the search for innovation.
In particular, students will analyse possible business models and examine the impact of innovation technologies on new business models.
*Please note: In winter semester 2025/26, the course Innovation Technology I will still be offered for students, who have already taken IT II. Starting from summer semester 2026, Innovation Technology will be offered annually as a 5 ECTS course during the summer semester.
